Alright, so it's been a long time since I have posted anything here; so my come back had to be a pretty epic song! Therefore, I HAD to pick FITZ AND THE TANTRUMS! This band is all about beat! They are an upbeat band with such an incredible sound!
Fitz and The Tantrums were founded by Michael Fitzpatrick in 2008. Michael Fitzpatrick contacted one of his college buddies who played the saxophone in 2008 wanting to put together a band! His buddy, James King, recommended the band members: singer Noelle Scaggs and drummer John Wicks. In turn, Wicks brought on bassist, Joseph Karnes, and keyboardist, Jeremy Ruzumna.
According to Fitzpatrick, the band immediately clicked. He has said, "It was literally like five phone calls, one rehearsal, and we could have played a show that night."
Having purchased an old Conn electronic organ, he was inspired to write the song "Breakin' the Chains of Love" that same night! Their debut album Pikin' Up the Pieces released in August of 2010, has received critical acclaim and reached Number 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart!
How awesome is that?! This band legitimately loves each other like family and they are still creating awesome music! So, here it is; One Awesome song and band for one AWESOME comeback!

Alt-J Cover
Ellie Goulding is an artist everyone in our day and age knows. She did a cover of an awesome indie band called Alt-J. This song is Tessellate. IT'S AWESOME!!! Since everyone knows Ellie, I decided to share her version and then the history of Alt-J; and also their original version of this so you can pick which you prefer :)
Alt-J was formed when Gwil Sainsbury (keyboards), Joe Newman (guitar/vocals), Gus Unger-Hamilton (guitarist/bassist) and Thom Green (drums) met at Leeds University in 2007.
Unger-Hamilton studied English Literature, the other three Fine Art. Newman showed Sainsbury a handful of his own songs and, the pair began recording in their halls rooms with Sainsbury acting as producer on GarageBand. The quartet spent two years rehearsing before signing a deal with Infectious Records in 2011.
The name "Alt-J" is an allusion to the Greek uppercase letter delta which can be typed on Apple Mac OS X by the key sequence alt + J. "Alt-J" were formerly known as both 'Daljit Dhaliwal' and 'Films'

Goons
Alrighty, this song is way fantastic! I know I say that about every song I've shared... but seriously, this song really is! Today's band is Mona. This band originated in Ohio and Kentucky and now reside in Tennessee. Formed in 2007, they went through various line-up changes within it's first few years. At the end of 2010 they had been longlisted for BBC's Sound of 2011 poll, and then made the longlist of MTV Award's Brand New for 2011! They started the hits with songs like "Teenagers", "Shooting the Moon", "Lines in the Sand", and "Listen to Your Love". And then here in 2013 came this song! This is "Goons (Baby, I Need it All)". Seriously enjoy this song guys it's awesome!
And here is another video, same song, however this is their explanation of how this song and why this song was written! It's pretty cool!

CHVRCHES
Alright so I'm spoiling you guys with this song! It's pretty bomb! This band is CHVRCHES (pronounced churches). They are a Scottish electro-pop band! The band consists of 3 people: Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook, and Martin Doherty. Originally the 3 were all in 3 separate bands. Lauren got a law degree followed by a masters in journalism. Iain was in a band as well as writing music in film and TV. Iain asked Lauren to join him with his friend Martin in writing a demo. After they wrote that they decided to start their own band called obviously, CHVRCHES. They spelled it with the Roman "v" so that it would not be mistaken for churches when searched on the internet! They came 5th on BBC's Sound of 2013 list of most promising new music talent! How cool is that?! Well guys this song is called "The Mother We Share". Enjoy this song because it's awesome!

You are my rock
I get married in roughly 19 weeks to my best friend! I cannot believe this is happening so fast but not fast enough at the same time! This song that I'm sharing with you is kind of our relationship lately. I'm going to share some personal things right now because I don't get comments so I feel like sometimes this is a secret but at the same time I see my views number go up so maybe I can help someone out with the issues I am having. Lately I have been moody, and rude, and easily irritated. I have absolutely no reason for the attitude I just seem to have it all the time and it comes out at Michael, the love of my life, more than to anyone else! I feel awful! He is so patient and good to me. Naturally he has a male mentality and says the wrong thing or is a complete butthead a lot. However, my reactions are 100% of our arguments. I can't believe how much he puts up with me. My herbalist is going to be having me on a bunch of different herbs and oils to help balance me out to try and calm me down because I am so sick of my moods. But, through all of my issues seeing how Michael loves me enough to brush everything off all the time... I just I can't even begin to explain how much he means to me. This song is by A Silent Film, they are a group of 5 guys from Oxford. The band was formed in 2008. 3 of the guys were in a band together and after they broke off 2 more from other bands found each other creating this incredible band. This song is called "Harbour Lights" I chose this song to go along with what I'm experiencing, well... because it's everything I always want to just say to Michael even when I'm upset or on a crazy woman rage. The main lyrics of this song is really what I love and how I feel about my fiancé, "You are my rock, never a stepping stone." Enjoy this song guys, because it's beautiful and has a beautiful meaning behind it.

I Could've Been Your Girl!
She & Him! Awesome band! Seriously could you go wrong with anything that has to do with Zoey Deschanel?! Zoey and M. Ward met on the set of the move The Go-Getter. Zoey had secretly always been writing her own songs and privately recording demos. After Matt told her she could really do something with it she sent him some demos to see where this could go even though she was always really afraid of being a big name celebrity. And thus formed one of the happiest and funnest bands She & Him! This song is called "I Could've Been Your Girl" if you know what majority of this dance routine is from I'll be so proud of you! If you don't however, most of the dance is from the movie Bye, Bye Birdie! Yay!!! Here's one of the funnest music videos! Enjoy She & Him!!

Dreaming
Dreaming of a band that combines some of the best indie names like Phoenix, Passion Pit, Foster the People, and Ghost Beach? Well world, YOU GOT IT! This band is called Smallpools! They are insanely amazing! They consist of 4 guys from LA. Their first album has been declared the "album of the Summer"! The track I'm showing you, "Dreaming", is a HUGE buzz on indie music blogs and has achieved top 10 Hype Machine's most blogged artists chart. The single has been described as "synth pop perfection", a "high energy killer track", and "catchy pop electro with a hook-laden chorus" from different indie bloggers. The buzz about this song has compared them to the popular and awesome LA indie outfit Foster the People. Well guys! Here it is! The incredible hit, DREAMING!

Waves
It's been awhile and I apologize for that; however for redemption I have a pretty spectacular song to share with you all! This artist found their way to my heart about a year ago and then the more songs I discovered the more love I developed for them! This, ladies and gentleman is Blondfire! This band is a brother and sister pair! Erica and Bruce were born in Michigan to a Brazillian mother and an American father. Their band was originally called Astaire; while on tour when contacted by the representatives of the estate of Fred Astaire and asked to change their name immediately! And so Blondfire was born! This song is called Waves. I hope you guys love it as much as I do! Erica and Bruce are incredible and have definitely given me one of my top 5 favorite bands! Enjoy!

Get down Stay down
Sorry for such a blank spot there for awhile! Today I am going to share a song I actually just discovered myself! This band is called Thao & the Get Down Stay Down. They are freaking legit! They are from San Francisco, California, Thao (the lead guitar and vocals), started playing guitar at age 12. Her and her friend started writing and playing indie folk music in High School. The band slowly met through the years and was what they are in 2006. They were originally called The Get Down; and one of the members suggested and changed them to The Get Down Stay Down. This INCREDIBLE song is called "We The Common (For Valerie Bolden) it's soooo good! And sooo happy!! Enjoy this because it's a new obsession of mine that is for sure!!! Keep watching this music video! They are a smaller local band so not many people have heard of them which is extremely tragic! This song has only had 4,800 ish views on YouTube and deserves A BILLION more!!!

Live in concert
So tonight was the Lydia concert where we all got to see our friend Drew drum with them! YAY! Well today I am going to share them live; and then I'll show you another song that is not live. So, without further wait... here's Lydia live!
The other AWESOME band I'm going to share is Tame Impala! They are from Perth, Australia; they prefer to describe their sound as "a steady flowing psychedelic groove rock band that emphasizes dream-like melody." Tame Impala originally started as a blues/jazz band called the Dee Dee Dums. In 2007 they renamed themselves to Tame Impala and changed to a bass/guitar/drum format. And then in 2008 they signed with an independent worldwide record label. Now, they are the awesome gift that they bless us with today! ENJOY!

Dressed in black from Head to Toe
Today I am sharing a happy happy song! It's called "Chocolate" by the band 1975. I don't have much to relate it to today haha so sorry there is no story or shpeel to go along with it. The 1975 is from Manchester, England. They started writing music in Jr. High school in 2002. After being signed a BBC music critic did a review on them describing them as "haunting" and "smooth" vocals. Their "mellow", stripped down style was praised for its lack of "attention-grabbing production theatrics". Their main topics of their lyrics consist of love, drugs, sex, fear, death, and hope. Enjoy this song which is a song of love, hope, and fear.

Talent Finally Found
This Friday I get to see my friend Drew touring with an incredible band called Lydia! They asked him to drum for them for this tour and we were all so excited! Years ago Drew was in one of my favorite bands called the Brobecks and I had a HUGE crush on him as a little lame high school groupie! Embarrassing... I know. But funny enough somehow his little sister Sierra and I became best friends! Well, now Drew is a good friend, and his wife is one of my favorite people ever! BUT! This chance to be with Lydia was the most amazing thing! Drew is way talented and it's about flippin' time someone noticed! Here's my snippet of Lydia and their background:
Leighton Antelman and Steve McGraw started writing and booking shows back when they were in 7th grade as Rolo 15 in Arizona. They signed with a local Arizona record label HourZero in 2008; after which opened doors like Zumiez Couch Tour, Vans Warped Tour, and the Bamboozal festival. In 2010 they took a break from music and later returned in late 2011. In January of this year they announced their new tour for this Spring for their new album "Devil". This is the tour that my friends and I will be seeing Drew play with them!
Well, here is one of my favorites from their latest album "Devil". This song is called, "The Exit". Enjoy this awesome jam guys!

You are forever mine
Well as of 1 month ago I've been engaged! YAY! Well, as part of my wedding planning attempts I've been trying to figure out songs to have in our wedding video and for me walking down the isle, etc. As part of my song narrowing I came across one of my favorite artists, Emme Packer. Emme is a local artist here from Salt Lake City! Oddly enough she dated a friend of mine, Drew Davidson (my best friends older brother). She has been recording for 10 years after teaching herself guitar and writing her own music throughout her life. She has toured the world and is in deep appreciation for her fans. She's down to earth and her voice is entrancing and beautiful. This song is called "Lay Your Head On Down". ENJOY because I know I am!

Life as we know it
As I look around at my friends and read people's tweets and Facebook posts; and as I look at my past and own experiences I see that most of our realities is loneliness and heartache. It's a sad and brutal reality, but it's what we are forced everyday to deal with. Even those who are married or in relationships feel rejected or alone a lot of the time. If their loved one is in the armed services and away, or just plain distant; we all experience it. I wanted to share a song near and dear to my heart and that I cried myself to during my times where I felt unloved. We all have our heartbreak playlists; well, this one was on repeat for me.
Kodaline is a band from Dublin, Ireland; Originally known as 21 Demands. Their first debut was back in 2007 and again came on the charts in Alternative Rock with this song, "All I Want". Enjoy this beautiful song and amazingly artistic and beautiful video.

Here Kitty Kitty
Today I feel like was very much an obsession about my cat kind of day :) His name is Rue and he is 2 years old! Well, one thing about Rue is he is not the most cuddly... like at all! If you go near him he gets up and walks away. BUT! Today all he wanted to do was to cuddle and be loved! So, the cat lady I am took many pictures!
He was so stinking cute I could hardly handle it! So, in honor of cats and my love for them; I started thinking, what song could I show that had to do with cats? Well, this isn't exactly a "cat" song particularly but it's definitely a favorite song of mine and it mentions cats aka "kitties" hahahaha. This band is called Katzenjammer,
They are a Norwegian band that met at school in Oslo. They came together as a band because they saw an artist's performance and all realized during a song called "Wading in the Deep" that they all shared the same feelings of being the "outcasts of the school". This band is awesome and I encourage all of you to look into them!! This song in particular is called "Demon Kitty Rag" ENJOY!!

Long time no see!
Ok so, as we all know my last post was back in 2011... yes, I've been out of the loop for a year and a half! Obviously my life has changed drastically since then! Well, once again we all know my sister GentriLee is a huge successful blogger and I halfway think it is a ridiculous way to spend life but she loves it and has become very successful with it! Well I figured I would like to get more involved with blogs again; I'm not the best but I'll learn. I am no Gentri though! I cannot blog about daily stuff like fashion, events, and my life very well, so what do I know and love enough to talk my brains off about? Music. I am going to attempt to start and turn this blog into a music blog! I want to do a song of the day... or week we will see how good I am at this. But I really want to spread my love for music and awesome artists and songs to everyone! Wish me luck and help keep me motivated! As the first song of the day I am going to do one that goes along with my hope to start something new and exciting in life!
This band is called American Authors. They are a band from Brooklyn, New York. They are striving to have their main message about life and the beauty in it. with the lows come the highs. And we all have a story to tell; no matter how we express it we have a story and a background of where we come from. They are an Alternative Rock band and they have something to share with you! I love this band; this song especially has a warm spot in my soul :)
